Robert C. Obrien Biography
Robert C. Obrien was born in 1918, in Brooklyn, New York.
He originally wanted to become a pianist, so he studied along that path in life
at the Julliard School of Music in New York City. His dreams changed later on,
and he began studying English instead, and gained a degree in that area in
1940. After his university graduation, he first worked as an editor and writer
for Newsweek Magazine, and after his marriage, he worked for the Washington
Times Herald from 1951 to 1963. His job as a journalist for Washington Times
Herald was cut short when was forced to move back to Washington, D.C, due to an
eye illness. It was at this stage that Robert first started writing his novels.
His last novel he wrote was “Z for Zachariah”, and it was finished posthumously
by his daughter and wife in 1974, after he died in 1973.
